Game Enhancements

This section will cover how to make enhancements to DragonRealms, which can make it a more immersive experince.

The DragonRealms Front-end -The Wizard- A Brief History

The Wizard front end was first developed a number of years back in Gemstone III. It was primarily used by the players. Simutronics did not support it. Once Simutronics split from America Online they set up their own Internet presence, they contracted the creator of the wizard to develop new versions for all the current Simutronics games, with the exception of Cyberstrike and Cyberstrike 2.

Since that time the wizard has had many new features added, and is now a quite powerful front-end. It has a scripting language, the ability to separate text from the main game window and display it in fully customizable windows. The ability to colorize text, as well as cue sounds from strings of text. The ability to associate pictures with text is a feature that is currently being worked upon, there are some very good examples of this feature within Gemstone III, the same feature should appear within DragonRealms soon.

One can highlight strings of words for quick notice with the Wizard FE. This can be especially helpful and enhance the overall game play, but the real enhancement comes with the ability to add custom sounds, and MIDI files to be played at certain text strings.

Note: One can also connect to Simutronics games by other Telnet applications. If you are more technically orientated and already have a front-end that you use with other MUDs then you may want to look into this option.

Pentiath's Observatory has a wealth of information about the realms. You can find information about cities, languages, and the elanthian sky. Head on over and look at what is available.
